The Gujarat MLAs have left the Eagleton resort where they were holed up for over a week. The MLAs were brought in to the resort located 40 kilometres away from Bengaluru ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat in which Congress candidate Ahmed Patel is contesting. The elections will be held on August 8.

Before leaving Bengaluru, they called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan. The man in charge of their hospitality, D K Shivakumar too met with the MLAs. The Congress while alleging poaching by the BJP carted around 43 MLAs to the resort near Bengaluru. Their hospitality in charge, D K Shivakumar was raided three days back by the Income Tax department. The MLAs are expected to reach Gujarat today.

The Congress is trying to keep its flock together to ensure that Patel wins the elections. The Congress came under severe criticism as the MLAs were holed up in the resort when the state was facing floods. The Congress had also moved the Supreme Court challenging an Election Commission of India notification which had introduced the NOTA option for the RS polls.
