The only word which is making noise in Kannada film industry is “Mufti” The Srii Murali and Shivarajkumar starrer film has got excellent opening and great reviews. The film is a blockbuster and may soon break many records.
Some four other films have been released along with “Mufti”. Most of them have failed. But only one film has been able to make some mark and that is “Mantram”. The horror film is produced by Amar Choudhary. It is written and directed by debutant S. S. Sajjan. The film stars Pallavi Raju and Shamanth Shetty in the lead roles. The music is scored by Rashid Ahmad Khan while the background score was composed by Ravi Basrur. Jo Ni Harsha has worked as the editor and the cinematography is by Rajshekhar.
A group of friends go to a small town to help a friend’s family that is experiencing mysterious troubles. They try to figure out the source of the problem and themselves become the targets. Nobody knows what is plaguing them and all evidence points to paranormal elements. The film has twist in second half and a wonderful message. It is not like other horror films and has a great message.
The film had a slow start due to “Mufti”. But the film has slowly picked up on second day. It has also got good reviews from media and it will surely pick on weekdays, when the wave of “Mufti” may decrease a bit.
The film also has coastal connection. Shamanth Shetty also known as Mani Shetty is playing the lead role. He is from Kundapur. And also Ravi Basrur, the magician musician has given background score for the film, which has taken the film to another level. As we all know Ravi Basrur is from Basrur in Udupi.
The film needs support of audience. We hope Kannada audience watch the film and support a good Kannada film.
