Mangaluru: Mysuru divisional railway authorities are expected to clear the debris and boulders fallen due to landslides on railway track in the next four-days.
Landslides in 67 locations between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road ghat section in a stretch of 56 kms of Hassan-Mangaluru section has been cleared and restoration work on remaining one landslide location is under
Railway staff, earth excavating machines are working round the clock to restore the track, noted S G Yatish, divisional PRO. “We have cleared all landslides sites, but one and this is a huge one. We estimate nearly 70,000 cu.mt of debris at this spot and will require at least 96-hours of round the clock work to remove,” Yatish told TOI, adding that the track certification will be done soon thereafter. “We plan to resume train services by September 20,” he said.
Accordingly, south western railway division has partially cancelled trains on this route. Trains cancelled are 16511/16513 KSR Bengaluru to Kannur/Karwar express journey starting on September 15 and 19; 16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru to Kannur/Karwar express journey from September 16-18; 16512/16514 Kannur/Karwar to KSR Bengaluru express journey on September 16-19 and 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar to KSR Bengaluru express journey on September 20.
Trains partially cancelled are 16575 Yesvantpur to Mangaluru Junction express that will run on September 16, 18 and 20 between Yesvantpur to Hassan and is partially cancelled between Hassan to Mangalore Junction; 16515 Yesvantpur to Karwar express on September 17, 19 will run between Yesvantpur to Hassan and is partially cancelled between Hassan to Karwar; 16576 Mangaluru Junction to Yesvantpur express on September 17 and 19 will run between Hassan to Yesvantpur and is partially cancelled between Mangalore Junction to Hassan and 16516 Karwar to Yesvantpur express on September 18 and 20 will run between Hassan to Yesvantpur and is partially cancelled between Karwar to Hassan.
