Aamir Khan is called as Mr Perfectionist. He is ready to go to any extent for his roles. he prepares very hard for his character and literally lives the character which he is playing. therefore we see him playing lead roles in very few films, compared to other superstars. The Dangal star leaves no stones unturned when it comes getting the look right. Be it his odd wide-eyed and jaw-out look in PK (2014), his tattooed look in Ghajini (2008) or more recently, his pot-bellied look in Dangal, Aamir has always nailed the portrayal of his characters in movies and more so in recent times.
In his upcoming film Thugs of Hindostan, Aamir Khan is set to play a character called Firangi Malla. Aamir Khan’s Firangi, who plays a dark character in the film, is portrayed in a unique look. The actor in addition to wearing a bizzare outfit, has curly hair and wears make-up at times, especially soorma in his eyes. Incidentally, the actor borrowed various cosmetics and make-up items from his mother Zeenat Hussain. It was Aamir’s mother Zeenat who also had inputs on Aamir’s character Firangi’s look in the film. Zeenat gave her make-up kit to the actor to make sure that he gets his look right.
The looks has met with mixed resposne. While some have hailed the look, some have criticized the look. People in social media has trolled the look as poor version of Jack Sparrow of Pirates of Carribean. But it would be too early to judge the look in trailer only. Let us wait until the film releases to comment
Meanwhile, Thugs of Hindostan’s trailer has got mixed response. Even though the review is mixed, the trailer has already got 45 million views on YouTube. The overall scale and the actors in the film has impressed audience, but the VFX does not look so great. While Aamir Khan’s Firangi is a fan favourite already, Amitabh Bachchan playing Khudabaskh aka Azaad also has fans buzzing.
The film also stars Katrina Kaif as Suraiyya and Fatima Sana Shaikh as the warrior Zafira. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film is set to release a day after Diwali on November 8. The film is expected to take a big opening and may beat the records set by Baahubali.
The response to the trailer for the on-ground audience ranges from excellent to good to bad, but the common consensus among the audience is to watch the film on the big screen just to experience the larger than life action entertainer. Although the trailer hasn’t really met up to the expectations of a lot of movie going audience, Thugs Of Hindostan is too big a film to be missed.
The opening will be earth-shattering due to Aamir Khan’s audience pull and the entire set up of the film, but the route from thereon would depend on the word of mouth. Diwali hasn’t really seen a big grosser for Bollywood this decade, and it would be interesting to see if Thugs Of Hindostan changes that, but for that to happen, a decent to good word of mouth is needed.
The minimum expectations from this film is 300 crores. Let us wait and see, if the film can cross this magical number.
